About
My name is Karla
I am a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, accredited member of BACP ( British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and motivational coach working with young people and adults, specializing in anxiety, low self esteem, body image and life challenges to help them to discover their unique potential and strength.
With over 10 years Yoga and mediation teaching experience, I holistically integrate my knowledge into my therapy practice. Meaning that I find the grounding, mindfulness techniques helpful in working with chronic stress, anxiety or sleeping pattern issues.
At Your Storylines Counselling and Therapy I offer a safe, non judgmental, supportive space to empower you to share your story and explore your feelings. Regardless of experiences, background or history I believe each person has the ability to know the story they want to tell and also be able to rewrite parts they need and move forward and create pathways toward desired journeys in life. When we are able to share our story, open ourselves to our vulnerabilities, we open ourselves to our full potential. I believe that everyone has the inner strength to overcome the challenges and forge ahead in their own preferred way of life, happiness, and love. You can heal through shared stories.
My Approach to Healing
As your therapist and coach , the core of my approach is empathy, deep understanding, insight and active listening. I can provide the support for a emotional needs such as anxiety, difficult emotions, relationship problems, chronic stress and low self esteem. How can I and therapy help you? You might feel that the first step is the hardest, feeling overwhelmed, stuck with your thoughts and feelings, unheard and unsure how to move forward. The work we do together in therapy sessions allows us safely explore your deepest fears and biggest longings, creating safe space to build trust that expands the connection in your most important relationship, the one with yourself. Using years of experience as yoga and meditation teacher I can also upon individual unique needs integrate the focus on emotional, in body and social well-being including mindfulness practice and meditation techniques as well as physical approach as yoga and breathing exercise. The combination of variety of the techniques I use, including psychoeducation helps you understand yourself better and discover coping strategies managing life's challenges.
I offer flexible options, in person, walk-and-talk in nature, and online counselling, making it easy to access help wherever you are in the UK or abroad. I am open minded and supportive to individual needs and promoting sense of respect, non judgment and cultural diversity.
